Belle Canto, which means beautiful singing, was founded by conductor and artistic director, Elizabeth Goldstein, in September, 2009. She recognized that in Sarasota's culturally-rich arts community, no one was performing repertoire for women's voices. So she set about creating Belle Canto ~A Celebration of Women's Voices. Belle Canto's varied repertoire includes both classical and traditional, secular and sacred choral works, in addition to new works by current composers.

Performances are enjoyed by audiences who appreciate the ensemble's ability to connect through creative programming and professional presentation.

The purpose of Belle Canto is to share a passionate celebration of women's voices; to promote the finest choral repertoire through performances of high artistic value; to entertain, enrich, inspire, and educate audiences with diverse and creative programming.
