Belle Canto, which means beautiful singing, was founded by conductor and artistic director, Elizabeth Goldstein, in September, 2009. She recognized that in Sarasota's culturally-rich arts community, no one was performing repertoire for women's voices. So she set about creating Belle Canto ~A Celebration of Women's Voices. Belle Canto's varied repertoire includes both classical and traditional, secular and sacred choral works, in addition to new works by current composers. From its inception, Belle Canto's goal has been to create the unique beauty and quality of sound that comes from the blending of women's voices and to leave audiences feeling joyful and uplifted.
